You are a Senior 3D Character Artist with proven expertise in creating high-quality characters - and a passion for pushing visual standards even higher. Bringing bold, expressive designs to life alongside a team of top-tier creatives is exactly the kind of work that draws you in!

We are unconventional creators of action games for PC and consoles - extremely fun to work with and definitely not for the faint-hearted. For over a decade, we pioneered the local game dev scene, driven by the ambition to become the regional game dev leader.

On that quest, we pave our way with exciting games developed in Unreal Engine. Scars Above, our latest title, is a challenging and immersive 3rd-person Sci-Fi shooter set in a mysterious alien world to explore. We are also developing two new, unannounced games based on famous and beloved IPs, which franchises' fans will eagerly anticipate! While we can't reveal too much just yet, we can promise these titles will push the boundaries of regional game development and generate some serious hype.

What will you be doing as a Mad Head?

  • Modeling and Sculpting of High resolution realistic Characters and Creatures based on provided concept art
  • Optimise and modify existing 3D assets 
  • Prepare 3D assets for animation and game import
  • Work on Realistic Texturing with attention to detail in Substance Painter
  • Ability to create realistic human faces based on concept art or character scans
  • Collaborate with dev teams and recommend improvements for the pipeline and assets
  • Collaborate and share feedback with other game dev departments
  • Collaborate with outsourcing and guide them through feedback
  • Work close with art direction and leads to achieve the artistic vision

 

What do we expect from our ideal candidate?

  • 5+ years of experience as a Character Artist within the Game or Film industry
  • Previous experience on at least 1 shipped game
  • Self organisation and proactivity in gathering references 
  • Good work ethics and communication skills
  • Research and development to address and solve artistic challenges throughout the production process
  • Strong knowledge of Human and Creature Anatomy
  • Knowledge in hard surface modeling or sculpting
  • Strong understanding of Cloth Simulation in Marvelous Designer
  • Knowledge in hair and fur creation in realtime
  • Mastery of standard art packages such as Maya, Zbrush, 3DS Max, Blender and other
  • Excellent creativity and artistic skills
  • Understanding of project requirements and conceptualising creative ideas
  • Willingness to remain up-to-date on the latest creative software and hardware
  • Good understanding of Human motion and Facial Expressions
  • Good understanding of Low Poly, UV and optimisation workflows

 

It would be a plus if you have: 

  • Mentoring/ coaching skills to train other 3D artists
  • Considerable understanding of video games and broad video game culture
  • Previous experience in working on AA / AAA games
  • Traditional Art background or Game development studies
  • Create personal Art, drawings, paintings, sculptures etc
  • Knowledge of game engines (Unreal Engine or Unity)
