Lead Character Artist

As a Lead Character Artist, you guide and mentor your team to ensure the highest quality of character art. You lead by example, refining processes and solving problems creatively. Collaborating closely with production and leadership, you help set and meet ambitious artistic timelines.

We are unconventional creators of action games for PC and consoles - extremely fun to work with and definitely not for the faint-hearted. For over a decade, we pioneered the local game dev scene, driven by the ambition to become the regional game dev leader.

On that quest, we pave our way with exciting games developed in Unreal Engine. Scars Above, our latest title, is a challenging and immersive 3rd-person Sci-Fi shooter set in a mysterious alien world to explore. We are also developing two new, unannounced games based on famous and beloved IPs, which franchises' fans will eagerly anticipate! While we can't reveal too much just yet, we can promise these titles will push the boundaries of regional game development and generate some serious hype.

What will you be doing as a Mad Head?

  • Leading the Character Art team and helping teammates to create finest characters (this includes mentoring, developing, inspiring and providing instructions, task feedback, clear directions and objectives to achieve) as well as outsource partners
  • Setting up, maintaining, and documenting character production pipelines
  • Collaborating closely with the art director to ensure the high quality of characters
  • Defining and creating character assets with the highest visual quality within technical and production limitations 
  • Planning, prioritizing, and setting inspiring objectives for your team members
  • Work closely with other departments on a daily basis to ensure that characters meet the needs for rigging and animation and collaborate with the tech team to develop new tools and enhance current ones
  • Resolving technical issues and limitations that may occur during development
  • Modeling and Sculpting of High resolution realistic Characters and Creatures based on provided concept art, from high poly to final in-game models

What do we expect from our ideal candidate?

  • Experience working on AA/ AAA titles
  • 5+ years of experience in game development and at least 1 shipped game
  • Leadership experience with internal or external teams 
  • Strong knowledge of Human and Creature Anatomy
  • Strong understanding of Cloth creation in Marvelous Designer (or similar software)
  • Good understanding of Human motion and Facial Expressions
  • Good understanding of Low Poly, UV and optimization workflows
  • Experience working in Unreal Engine
  • Mastery of standard art packages such as Maya, Zbrush, 3DS Max or alternatives (Blender, Cinema 4D, Modo …)
