System Designer

You live for the details players might not notice, but definitely feel! Whether it’s crafting elegant solutions to gameplay challenges, building systems that drive exploration and behaviour, or creating mechanics that just click - this is what keeps you hooked.

We are unconventional creators of action games for PC and consoles - extremely fun to work with and definitely not for the faint-hearted. For over a decade, we pioneered the local game dev scene, driven by the ambition to become the regional game dev leader.

On that quest, we pave our way with exciting games developed in Unreal Engine. Scars Above, our latest title, is a challenging and immersive 3rd-person Sci-Fi shooter set in a mysterious alien world to explore. We are also developing two new, unannounced games based on famous and beloved IPs, which franchises' fans will eagerly anticipate! While we can't reveal too much just yet, we can promise these titles will push the boundaries of regional game development and generate some serious hype.

And now, we are looking for a System Designer to join our team and help us shape the future of our games.

If everything said above ticks all your boxes so far, read on! We might be a match made in heaven!

What will you be doing as a Mad Head?

As a System Designer, you will collaborate with Game Designers, Artists, and Engineers to define and implement core gameplay systems that support player journey.

You will:

  • Design Creature Behaviours: Define how NPC creatures behave and interact with their surroundings.
  • Shape the Player Journey UX: Create systems for navigation, map usage, environmental interaction, skill checks, notifications, and other in-world feedback elements.
  • Build Exploration Systems: Design collectables, achievements, systemic events, loot systems, and camera behaviours that support exploration and engagement.
  • Define Locomotion Systems: Research and design varied movement styles for different creatures, along with NPC movement, crowd behaviour, and navigation logic.
  • Design Mini games and Terminals: Lead the creation and integration of mini games and in-world interactive systems, ensuring they support gameplay and narrative objectives.
  • Support Systemic World building: Work hand-in-hand with Player Journey Game Designers to give life to gameplay moments—providing the functional and systemic layer to narrative and world concepts.

What do we expect from our ideal candidate?

  • Previous experience as a System Designer, Technical Game Designer, or similar role on AA/AAA project
  • Deep understanding of player-centric UX and exploration system design
  • Ability to break down abstract design goals into logical, interactive systems
  • Experience in Unreal Engine, with understanding of Blueprint scripting and system prototyping
  • Strong grasp of creature and AI behaviour, environmental logic, camera systems, and player feedback loops
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to work across disciplines to integrate systems with art, narrative, and audio
  • Passion for crafting immersive worlds that feel responsive, dynamic, and alive
  • Strong communication skills and English language proficiency
